Abstract
In this study, the effect of using an alternative channel for the existing jet stream assembly on the aerodynamic performance of the Aeromine energy conversion device has been comprehensively investigated.Simulations were performed using ANSYS Fluent software and analyses were performed based on changing the location of the channel flow entry on the airfoil surface in a set of two mirrored airfoils, under different wind speed conditions. In addition, the axial distance of the flow exit points on the airfoils has also been evaluated.Considering the resultant effect of all three factors under consideration, namely the axial distance of the flow exit points from the airfoils, the position of the inner channel inlet relative to the point of flow impact on the airfoil, and finally considering the velocity difference in the channel due to changes in the angle of attack of the free stream relative to the airfoil chord, this resulted in a 12% increase in velocity across the cross-section behind the inlet of the airfoil's internal channel.
