Abstract
In low-speed conditions and at high altitudes, the aerodynamic control surfaces of flight vehicles often exhibit limited effectiveness. In such scenarios, lateral jet injection serves as a viable alternative for control. The high-At low speeds and high altitudes, the aerodynamic control surfaces of flight vehicles tend to perform inadequately. Jet control injection is considered an effective alternative in such conditions. Due to the injection of high-speed gas, the aerodynamic flow field around the vehicle undergoes significant changes, making it necessary to re-evaluate the flow characteristics. In this study, both numerical and experimental investigations are conducted to examine the effect of control jet injection on aerodynamic coefficients and pressure distribution in the injection regions of a missile at Mach 0.5. The experimental analysis includes Schlieren imaging in the wind tunnel. Experimental data were obtained for both injection-on and injection-off cases and compared with numerical simulations. The results indicate an increase in drag coefficient due to jet injection, while lift and pitching moment coefficients show no significant change. The findings demonstrate that the jet control system performs effectively, and the flow instabilities introduced by the injection are minimal, making this method a viable option for flight control.
