ABSTRACT
In recent years, many studies have been conducted on microchannel heat sink. Microchannel heat sink absorbs heat from the equipment and transfers heat to that fluid by maximizing the contact surface with the surrounding fluid. In the present study, the three-dimensional simulation of water flow in a heat sink with uniform heat flux is discussed. For this purpose, two cross sections of circle and triangle are considered in four types of square, 30 degree rhombus, 60 degree rhombus and triangular arrangement. The simulation was done with the help of Ansys Fluent commercial software. The boundary condition of constant and uniform heat flux is applied on the bottom wall of the heat sink. In this research, pressure drop and heat transfer are investigated first. Then, by defining the thermal performance coefficient, the optimal heat sink is determined. The obtained results show that the heat sink with a triangular arrangement and obstacles with a circular cross-section with a height of 1.5 mm had the highest efficiency, but in a square arrangement with obstacles with a triangular cross-section, the lowest efficiency occurred.
